A pair of Kiri period underwear looks, from the outside, like ordinary underwear. What's different is underneath. Four layers are built into the gusset: a moisture-wicking layer that keeps the surface against your skin feeling dry, an antibacterial layer that neutralises the bacteria responsible for odour, an absorbent core that holds the liquid, and a leak-proof outer shield that stops anything from reaching your clothes.

The daywear style holds up to 50 ml — roughly 5.5 regular tampons' worth. The nightwear style, cut higher at the waist for coverage while lying down, holds up to 75 ml, or about 8.5 tampons. On a heavier day, most people change once, the same way they'd change underwear anyway — there's no applicator, no wrapper, no timing it around a bathroom break.

Why "just wear a pad" undersells the problem

The friction was never really about periods being difficult. It's that most period products are things you add to your day — an extra item in a bag, an extra step before getting dressed, an extra thing to remember to restock. Period underwear removes the step. The moisture-wicking top layer isn't just about staying dry from the inside — it also has to hold up against outside heat and humidity without ever feeling clammy. Every fabric we use is free of dioxin, chlorine and rayon, so nothing in the layer sitting against your skin has a reason to irritate it.

What actually changes when you switch

Reusable underwear won't suit every single day for every person — some people layer it with a tampon or cup on their heaviest day as backup, and that's fine, it's built to work that way too. But for most of a cycle, it replaces pads and tampons outright, and it replaces them for years, not months.
